Morty Comix #02071
Listing Details
Morty Comix are one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn original art items that have been produced by Steve Willis since 1983. The idea was that he would include one in every piece of correspondence and there are over 10,000 "issues" floating around (minus any that may have been lost, discarded or destroyed) but they can be difficult to come by. A true rarity of the underground.
In Willis' "A Guide to Morty Comix" (published in the June 2002 issue of the White Buffalo Gazette), the artist notes that although the typical format was something like an index card folded in half (to make a four-page "booklet") there were some variations: Morty Comix drawn on library waste cards, butcher paper, cardboard, foam, wood, etc. Some were produced as puzzles, a couple were 80 pages thick, one was drawn in the sand and sent as a photo.
This one's made from four discarded library checkout cards stapled together with one drawing on each page.
